Real rates.
No surprises.
Therapy is an investment. You deserve to know exactly what you are paying for and why. No hidden fees. No bait-and-switch. No awkward money conversations mid-session. Everything is here.
What a session costs.
Three session types depending on where you are and what you need. We figure out which one is right for you together in the first session.
Priority Access Session
30 minutes
Focused check-ins for established clients. Ideal for ADHD clients who work best with frequent, shorter touchpoints between longer sessions.
$110
per session
Standard Therapy
53 minutes
Full therapy sessions for individual work. The only session type covered by insurance. Where most of the deep work happens.
$195
per session
Trauma Processing
90 minutes
Extended sessions for active EMDR, Brainspotting, ART or DBR work. More time to process and integrate without rushing.
$235
per session
Insurance accepted for standard therapy sessions only. Your cost depends on your plan, deductible and copay. Contact your insurance directly to verify benefits before your first session.
The 30-minute and 90-minute sessions are self-pay only. Insurance does not reimburse these session types regardless of your coverage.
Plans we accept.
Kalido Therapy is in-network with the following plans. Both private insurance and Medicaid are accepted where noted. Don’t see your plan? Out-of-network superbills are available.
HMSA
Hawaii Medical Service Association. Both private and Medicaid plans accepted.
Kaiser Permanente
Both private and Medicaid Kaiser plans accepted.
Ohana Health Plan
Medicaid managed care plan accepted.
AlohaCare
Medicaid managed care plan accepted.
Not on this list? Superbill available.
If you have out-of-network benefits you may be able to get reimbursed by your insurance. After each session you will receive a superbill to submit directly to your plan. Contact your insurance to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before your first session.
The first session is the consultation.
“But I just want a quick 15-minute call to see if we’re a good fit.”A 15-minute call cannot tell you that. It cannot tell me anything either. It just adds another thing to your calendar.
The first session is where we figure out if we are a good match. You ask me anything. I understand what you are carrying. We both decide together whether this feels right. That is worth a full session, not a rushed phone call where we are both performing.
You get a real session
Not a sales call. A real conversation where we actually start figuring out what you need and whether I am the right person to help.
You leave with something
Even if you decide I am not the right fit, you leave with clarity and possibly a referral to someone who is.
Your time is valuable
You have already done the hard part by deciding to reach out. The first session honors that. It is where we start, not where we audition.
How the sliding scale works.
Clear boundaries protect us both.
Cancellation policies are not punitive. They are how a solo practice stays sustainable so it can keep serving the people who need it. Life happens. The 24-hour window exists to give both of us enough time to adjust.
24 hours notice required
Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your session and there is no charge. Simple.
Late cancellations are charged in full
If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, the full session fee applies. This includes same-day cancellations and no-shows.
Private insurance does not cover late cancellations
Private insurance plans do not reimburse missed sessions or late cancellations. The fee is your responsibility regardless of your coverage.
Medicaid clients are exempt
If you are covered under a Medicaid plan including HMSA Medicaid, Kaiser Medicaid, Ohana Health Plan or AlohaCare, no-show and late cancellation fees do not apply to you. This is in accordance with Medicaid provider agreement requirements.
Emergencies are different
Genuine emergencies are handled with grace. If something serious happens, reach out directly. We will figure it out together.
Things people usually ask.
Do you take my insurance if I am on Medicaid?
Yes. Kalido Therapy accepts HMSA, Kaiser Permanente, Ohana Health Plan and AlohaCare including Medicaid versions of these plans. If you are unsure whether your specific plan is covered, contact your insurance and ask if Maria Suarez LCSW is in-network. You can also reach out directly and I will help you figure it out.
How do I know which session type is right for me?
We figure that out in the first session. Most clients start with the standard 53-minute session. The 30-minute Priority Access session is for established clients who want focused check-ins between longer sessions, especially useful for ADHD clients. The 90-minute trauma processing session is for active EMDR, Brainspotting, ART or DBR work. Both the 30-minute and 90-minute sessions are self-pay only.
What if I cannot afford the full rate?
Reach out and ask about sliding scale availability. When slots are full I keep a short waitlist. I would rather you ask than not get care. No shame in asking.
Am I charged if I miss a session on Medicaid?
No. If you are covered under a Medicaid plan, no-show and late cancellation fees do not apply to you. This is a requirement under Medicaid provider agreements. You will never be billed a no-show fee if you are a Medicaid client.
Do you offer couples or family therapy?
No. Kalido Therapy focuses on individual therapy. If you are looking for couples or family work, reach out and I will do my best to refer you to someone good.
How do I verify my insurance benefits before the first session?
Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask: Is Maria Suarez LCSW in-network? What is my copay or coinsurance for outpatient mental health services? Do I have a deductible I need to meet first? Get the reference number for the call. This protects you if there are any billing questions later.
