EMDR, Brainspotting, and ART
Trauma processing that works with your body, not against it
EMDR, Brainspotting, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy are all ways of helping your brain and nervous system process what has been stuck, without having to relive every detail or power through it by sheer will.
These are not magic fixes. They are structured, evidence based approaches that give your system another way to heal from trauma, chronic stress, and patterns that talking alone has not been able to shift.
What these trauma therapies are like in real life
You do not need to pick a modality before we start. You do not need to know the difference between them. That is my job. Yours is to show up as you are and let me know what feels possible for your nervous system that day. Together we decide what to use and when.
All three approaches rely on your brain and body’s natural capacity to process and reorganize experiences. They use things like eye movements, focused attention, and imagery to help your nervous system unhook from survival mode and respond in new ways. We stay grounded, present, and in control as we work. You are never just dropped into the deep end.
We always start with building safety and stability first. Only then do we layer in deeper trauma processing, at a pace your system can handle.
EMDR
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, like eye movements or tapping, while you focus on specific memories, present triggers, or beliefs. We keep one foot in the present while your brain does the work of reprocessing what has been stuck on repeat.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting works with where you look and what your body feels. By finding specific eye positions linked to activation, we can gently access deeper layers of stored trauma and emotion, even when you do not have all the words for it.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy
ART uses guided imagery and eye movements to change how distressing memories and images live in your mind and body. You stay in control of what you share while we work to reduce the emotional intensity attached to what you went through.
Who this kind of work is for
People who have tried talk therapy before and felt some relief, but still notice their body reacting as if the worst things already happened are still happening now. People who intellectually understand their trauma but still feel hijacked by triggers, flashbacks, shutdown, or intense reactions.
People carrying complex or developmental trauma, medical trauma, relational trauma, identity based trauma, or specific events that will not let go. People who are open to body and brain based work but want it to be paced, collaborative, and respectful of culture, identity, and lived experience.
If you are BIPOC, queer, trans, neurodivergent, a helper, a first responder, a caregiver, or a survivor of exploitation or chronic stress, these approaches can be tailored to your nervous system and your reality. You do not have to fit into a rigid protocol for them to work.
What sessions feel like when we use these tools
Sessions are still grounded and relational. We do not become robots following a script just because we are using EMDR, Brainspotting, or ART. We start by checking in with how you are arriving that day and what your nervous system can realistically handle.
On some days, that might mean resourcing and regulation only. On others, it might mean gently stepping into a memory, a body sensation, or an image with one of these methods. We keep you oriented to the present and we constantly monitor your window of tolerance so you are not pushed past what feels safe enough.
You can always say no, pause, or slow down. You are in charge of the pace, and we adjust as we go.
How we decide what to use
We look at what you are dealing with right now, what has helped or not helped in the past, and how your body responds in session. Some brains resonate more with EMDR, some with Brainspotting, some with ART, and many with a mix over time.
You do not have to lock into one modality forever. We can shift approaches as your needs and capacity change, always with your consent and input.
The goal is not to collect techniques. The goal is to help your nervous system stop living like the worst moment is still happening.
Rates, insurance, and where I see clients
Trauma processing sessions are fifty minutes. My current private pay rate is 200 dollars per individual session.
I offer telehealth only and currently see clients who live in Hawaii, Arizona, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Washington. In Hawaii I accept select insurance plans, and in other states some coverage may be available through third party platforms. You can reach out and I can let you know what is possible for your situation.
For more detail about insurance, cancellation policies, and how to get started, you can visit the FAQ page once you have read through this page.
If talking about it has not been enough
You do not need to be sure which modality you want. If you recognize yourself in this kind of nervous system exhaustion, that is enough. We can start gently, build safety, and introduce EMDR, Brainspotting, or ART when it feels right for you.
